The area sampled is from the "target area" identified by Novo in the news release of 1st Aug as occuring in a "few areas" of an ancient stream bed which are capped by laterite indicating they are quite old areas of deposition. They are "close to the hills" so relatively narrow, and Hennigh hopes they will be more continious further from the hills where the stream fans out and is therefore less affected by more recent erosion events.

These target areas are described by the Novo fanboys guru, Bob Moriaty, in his recent rantings, as being "absurdly rich". As you point out that is a matter of perspective. $21000 is usually not seen as an absurdy rich amount but to Bob Moriaty it may be.

One characteristic of alluvial deposits just about everywhere else is that when streams fan out, the gold tends to be more dispersed, and concentrations of gold are limited to particular geographical features where there are nugget traps. This characteristic is particularly evident if the gold is nuggety, as it has found to be at Egina.

The likelyhood of continious areas of similarly "absurdly rich" patches to be found at Egina would therefore appear to be slim. But the Muddled Headed Wombat and his band of devoted followers appear undeterred...no doubt because of an almost complete lack of understanding of the nature of alluvial gravels -that just about everyone else with a basic understanding of gold deposition understands.

Novo appears to have dispensed with its 8mx8m bulk samples outlined in the earlier news release instead choosing to sample much more extensive areas. Not surprising. The results of 8mx8m samples would be embarrasing to release because of the variability.
