You are making statements, but not backing them up with any evidence. Here is some evidence to support your claims.

Novonix patent is for a method to make the NMC cathode in a cheaper and more efficient manner.

Tesla cars use NCA chemistry, but the Model 3s made in china will be LFP chemistry (showing that Tesla are not afraid of changing chemistry.

Tesla's / Jeff Dahn's patent is for an NMC single crystal cathode, not NCA.

Logically, Tesla won't insist on using NCA technology if Dahn's MMB promise is based on the single crystal cathode. Novonix only contributes here by making the process cheaper and more efficient with their DPMG process.

Again, logically, if you can make a MMB cheaper (rather than 10% more expensive as CATL promises), then you can make cars more affordable and target a bigger segment of the market.
