Again, logically, if you can make a MMB cheaper (rather than 10% more expensive as CATL promises), then you can make cars more affordable and target a bigger segment of the market.

Exactly, Tesla vehicles are currently being produced with NCA, NCM and LFP batteries, and Jeff Dahn SCC rrsearch was using NMC.
SO the assertion that Novonix DPMG could not be used by Tesla is incorrect.
