the right thing to do if have the navy escort the boats back to where they came from - process anyone trying to 'come illegally' with a black mark they wont be able to come to Australia under any circumstances for 10 years - the captain of the boat and those organised should of been shot if they failed to comply with returning back to where they came from.....

not really that hard....no one needed to die and it could of been used as a exercise for the Navy in a 'real' peace keeping but boarder protection effort - unfortunately Ruud like all ALP leaders in recent years was an idiot
