If the platforms (or even some of them) and reusable, when you make a new discovery at a similar time to an old one finishing, you must avoid a truckload of spending by recycling your existing ones.
Given that is costs as much to develop the offshore discoveries as it does to drill them, if this happened it would represent a huge saving surely. On the flipside, smaller discoveries would be far more economic on this basis if you have a movable bunch of platforms you can yank about here and there.
