I'm not going to give an opinion on whether these ideas are good or not -this latest one follows on from Tassie and Queensland --
time and measurement will tell us if this is a dud idea or a masterstroke
IMO ------------ we need to measure the hell out of this - AND, have no political spin on the results - because these moves may be a key to a wonderful tool to smooth out a lumpy part of an economy - when times are normal - forget repairing disasters
measurements - if they show that this is a wonderful idea - then, in the future when we get to breathe again after Covid - we should then expand experimentation out to OS travel - subsidising tourists to come to Oz -
assuming this gives us a good result.
if it gives us a dud result - well - obviously look at why - if it can be tinkered with (developed) - then, continue trying - if we think it's a total fizzer - then, put it in the 'well we tried that once' bin.
either way - non politically biased measurement ------ big time
