NRC Schedules Webinar to Discuss Safety Performance of Global Nuclear Fuel Plant
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff has scheduled a webinar with management of Global Nuclear Fuel – Americas in Wilmington, N.C.
on April 12, to discuss the results of the agency’s licensee performance review of the company’s commercial nuclear fuel fabrication plant.
The webinar will be held from 1-2 p.m., with NRC officials participating from the agency’s regional offices in Atlanta and Global officials at their facility in Wilmington. The meeting will be accessible by the public and the media, with NRC officials available to answer questions after the formal presentation.
The NRC staff assessed performance at the Global facility during a period beginning Jan. 1, 2015, and ending Dec. 31, 2016, in the categories of safety operations, radiological controls, facility support and other areas.

The NRC also assesses security, but it will not be discussed during the webinar due to the sensitive nature of the information.

The staff review determined that Global continued to conduct its activities safely and securely, protecting public health and the environment.
