MITCHELL Pearce has returned from a US holiday for his showdown with the Sydney Roosters over his future, however the landscape at the club may have shifted while he was away.
Senior Roosters officials are understood to have told club chairman Nick Politis to cut Pearce loose if he cannot bring himself to play second fiddle to Cooper Cronk.
Pearce arrived at Sydney airport late Thursday night and when asked if he could work with Cronk, said: “Obviously if I ... yeah, obviously Cooper would be a player you could play with for sure. He’s the Australian halfback.’’
Pearce has no shortage of suitors, led by Cronulla and Newcastle, hoping to lure him away from Bondi next season with the promise of being their starting halfback.
