NRMA and MTA Vehicle Inspections

Just recently I purchased a Toyota from a dealer in Sydney, but to make sure everything was as photos showed and as described, I paid MTA to inspect for me, as I had put a deposit down, and live in Albury, and was worried about kms being wound back mainly. (imported from Japan).
The report was pretty ordinary and a phone call to the inspector advised not to buy.
I would have lost a lot of my deposit because the company had put registration on the vehicle for me and installed a new GPS/radio system, etc, and then I would have been involved with Fair Trading to get some money back, ... if I followed advice of the MTA NSW.

So, I caught the train to Sydney, found the car yard, the vehicle was brilliant, and drove it home.

The question is, why would MTA be negative towards these sort of vehicles, that I bought, a 2000 Toyota Spacia/Noah Limo with only 50,000kms on the clock, ..... "imports", "side ways imports", "private imports", that recently others have said that these inspection companies have a tendency to do.

I had the vehicle checked out in Albury by a brake and clutch business, and everything was in very good condition.(They charged me nothing but I gave the mechanic $20 anyway.)

I am considering sending MTA an email asking for the $255 back.
