Every casino needs a hot commodity, even while the rest of the casino is collapsing into ruins, especially in those times, to deflect the attention from the collapse.
And every dog has his day, remember when the hot property was the Dot-coms, followed by the crypto insanity? Crypto seems to have run out of steam, lost its 'buzzzz', and now we need a new 'dog of the day'.
I suspect it is going to be gold. All the big players have taken their positions, apart of course, from the Aussie Reserve Bank!
The peasants have been lulled into sleep, during this process, and now the 'gold fever' can be returned to the markets.
Hold on, my fellow gold punters, the ride may be about to go up a few gears!
