"How does the US govt devalue the $US without inflation and subsequent interest rate rises?"

Perhaps, like Alan Greenspan, I wasn't clear enough in my expression.

The US government will continue to borrow in the expectation of eventually paying back the debt with dollars devalued by inflation, while in the shorter term, keeping a lid on interest rates for as long as possible via central bank operations.
In other words, QE until we bust.

Is there anything that has happened since the GFC that suggests that they will depart from that play book?
