it would be really silly to have had HOWARD bringing out a stimulus package when the economy was overheating. In his case it was BLATANT PORKBARRELLING. In RUDDS case it was to stimulate the economy and we all benefit.
In a political context it amazes me that the Liberals attack the package as being a waste, and as a consequence likely make the millions of Australians who received it feel resentful of their attitude. I can already see the ads at the next election reminding those millions of recipients of the liberal attitude. It is no wonder the Opposition is still struggling. Given that pensioners are likely to receive good ongoing increases before the election the libs will find it hard to counter this.
