As soon as failures occurred in hotel quarantine and
home quarantine hard line fail safe measures should
have been take to stop the contagious spread.
I have noted elsewhere the requirements to contain infection
within a household of more than one person, its really
tough, yet people are getting tested and are told to go
home and stay there. This is a joke. These people need
support, at least daily.
This support was not provided or considered. It is
difficult to implement with inadequate trained staff
to service home quarantine across an area like
"Greater Sydney".
A quarantine facility should have been established
from day one. We have so much land in Australia
it wouldn't have been difficult to start a makeshift
site out west somewhere near a railway line.
People held in the facility for 4 weeks, say, could
have been compensated by not paying tax for a
year or two. A certificate proclaiming their service
to the community would be good too.
Then everyone else could have gotten on with life
and a eye watering debt would not be continuing
to accumulate 20 odd months later.
