    So let’s get this correct

Basically, the Liberals in Australia pushed the privatisation of power for the whole country, Refs below.

But now- the Liberals want government to take back control of power - and get nuclear- which government will have to build - because business isn’t interested at all. But the Liberals also need Labor to overturn the nuclear ban, which the Liberals themselves put in place.

“41% of Australians support nuclear in a poll released this weekend, 60% of LNP supporters.”

“Jeff Kennett, Premier of Victoria from 1992 to 1999, initiated and drove the privatization of the state's electricity industry, which set the stage for the broader push towards privatization of power assets across Australia.

After the Labor government of Joan Kirner sold 51% of the Loy Yang B power station in 1992, Kennett's Liberal government went further and sold off the remainder of Loy Yang B, as well as the rest of Victoria's publicly owned generation, transmission and distribution electricity assets[1]. This marked a significant shift towards private ownership of electricity infrastructure in Australia.

Kennett's aggressive privatization agenda in the electricity sector was driven by an ideological belief in private sector efficiency and a desire to reduce state debt[2]. His government's actions paved the way for other states like New South Wales and Queensland to follow suit and pursue privatization of their own power assets in subsequent years[1].

So while the initial steps were taken by Labor in Victoria, it was Kennett's Liberal government that fully committed to and executed the large-scale privatization of the state's electricity industry, setting a precedent that other Australian states eventually embraced[1][3].
