The Bass Strait offshore oil industry has operated for over 50 years . Right in the path of whale migration. Whale sightings from the platforms and service boats are a common annual occurrence.
Bass Strait has many permanent structures and pipelines. lt has actively hosted ongoing exploration, drilling, seismic surveying and production for over half a century in the path of migrating whales .
