@dan1; what's different to Victoria back then and NSW now is that Victoria had already bitten the bullet and imposed curfews and a 5kms mobility limit across all of Victoria. Victorians did not have assistance from vaccinations and the behaviour of the virus back then was all but un-documented.
There is NO indication as yet that NSW has maxed out but a very real risk that the number of new cases may well explode. NSW is facing significant non-compliance due to mixed messaging, changing restrictions and variable application by LGA.
The one savings grace for NSW is that most elderly people in agreed care facilities have been fully vaccinated.
I just hope Victoria can now quickly kill off its latest outbreak and come to the aid of NSW health workers - they are under huge pressure and have been for many weeks now.
