Brumby urges Fed Govt to rescue Vic manufacturing
John Brumby says his Government has done what it can.
Victorian Premier John Brumby says it is up to the Federal Government to help the Victorian manufacturing industry.
Central Victorian car components manufacturer Teson Trims has gone into voluntary administration with a $2 million debt.
It is the latest in a series of setbacks for the state's automotive industry, hit hard by declining global economic conditions.
Mr Brumby says his Government has done what it can to help the industry.
"The bulk of the levers that you can pull to help the manufacturing industry are with the Federal Government," he said.
"They're things like tariffs, they're things like direct industry support. So, I think we're doing everything we can to support manufacturing industry.
"It is a very difficult environment at the moment."
