Alas, I think people would rather force energy companies to produce more green energy to uphold their wasteful and lazy lifestyles than to cut down generally and also resist their urges. This scenario, where demands are placed on one stakeholder to address the symptom rather than the cause, is bound to promote more wastefulness. Meeting halfway would be an improvement, but is far too constructive and logical for the narcissistic and gullible society that we live in.
Other than that, I consider it a shame that some people are misdirected away from their personal responsibilities by malicious actors who have weaponised the climate change debate to disrupt nations/societies.
