I have to express reservations about the prospect of a gas pipeline to the gas field near Kintore, a community i lived in for many years. The place is 520 kms west from Alice Springs almost to the WA border. From Alice Springs a rough dirt road winds through shifting sand dune country for most of that distance. The country is seriously rugged and subject to intermittent wind and water erosion on the red sand base. I would think that to build a pipeline out there would be a massively challenging feat of engineering and far more expensive than laying it just about anywhere else. To justify the expense a world class resource or resources would have to be proven, I'm not sure that CTP is quite in that league yet.
It worries me that hype is developing around CTP, good for the SP i know but I would prefer a steady, evidence based increase rather than a spike that becomes unsustainable.
