The Enbridge group is currently reviewing plans similar to those of APA Group linking the territory to the national gas grid via either a pipeline between Tennant Creek and Mt Isa, or Alice Springs and Moomba. Enbridge was also listed by the publication last year as being involved with offers to acquire sections of the Queensland Curtis LNG (QCLNG) Project’s pipeline network.

APA Group's plans to develop a gas pipeline linking its Northern Territory and east coast assets, creating one interconnected system of over 9,000 km of gas pipelines, involve bringing together APA’s two Northern Territory pipelines with its east coast grid, which extends from Queensland to Victoria.

Two potential routes are being studied by APA Group. One option is an 800 km pipeline from Tennant Creek to Mt Isa at an estimated cost of $A900 million, with the second being a 1,000 km pipeline from Alice Springs to the Santos-operated Moomba gas plant in South Australia for approximately $A1.3 billion.
