    From the NT News...

A DARWIN-based IT company has taken a big step up the pecking order.

CSG has won preferred tenderer status for two whole-of-government contracts with the Territory government.

The work will cover desktop and server services, and network management.

CSG, which is the only Territory-based company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange, had previously provided the services to the government as a sub-contractor to other firms.

But it has won prime status in their delivery.

The company will now enter contract negotiations.

CSG said it was also engaged in non-exclusive contract negotiation for three other packages of work, covering the supply of printers, servers and network equipment, and as a sub-contractor in a fourth contract.

The work involved in the fourth contract is not known.

But a government website gives details of an overarching package of IT work, which includes a service centre and voice and data telecommunications services.

CSG's other prestigious contracts included the delivery of the Ultranet online portal for Year 12 students in Victoria's state schools.

Ultranet will deliver the award-winning Oracle Student Learning portal at a cost of about $47.5 million over the first two years.

CSG is also providing Ultranet support such as application hosting, software maintenance, disaster recovery and helpdesk services for an additional two years for about $17 million.
