given the state of the relationship between police and the Aboriginal people, with antagonism on both sides, when police are supposed to be professional and avoiding personal attitudes...... its seems to me more like an attempt to lay the foundations for repairing community relations.
in the sense that 'political' is about representation of community values in decision making, the police apology is in keeping with repairing relations and so, yep, political. but as I wrote, laws are made by politicians so its the political parties that should be apologising.
better still we shouldn't allow stupid party politicians anywhere near making decisions on laws. collectively, party pollies are merely grubby climbers of the greasy pole.
