He didnt say the aboriginals were faultless or blameless. He just acknowledged some failings of the NT police in their dealings historically with aboriginals. Some of the examples he put forth were indisputable.
He did not say all police were bad or that all their actions were questionable.
He is probably in a better position than nearly everybody to analyse the historical actions of NT police and well within his rights to do so.
