Did you know that WAX along with CIN and WHF are the only three LICs whose NTA (inc divs) has outperformed the ASX300Acc this year and over the last four years? And WAX holds much more cash than the other two. CIN has an extra year (2010) of higher performance. I like WAX best because CIN and WHF tend to buy large caps which have outperformed and may not in the near future (IMHO).
BTW, VAS does not outperform the ASX300ac if you follow the ETFs but is very close.
Another interesting stat is that only 33% of the LICS I follow have NTA (inc divs) that outperformed the ASX300acc last calendar year. If you randomly pick LICs your best bet would be forget random picking and pick the VAS ETF if you want to track the ASX300Acc.
Of course you do not pay NTA for a LIC, nor sell at NTA. It does however say a lot about the manager's ability to make money after they extract their fees.
This is my data and I only follow or followed 40 LICs (including closed ones). You should do your own research.
