really looking foreward to a nuclear debate in Australia. The political parties are all divided particularly the greens.
In the past many in Australia have seen this as a moral issue.Apart from the uncertainties about securing nuclear sites, the problems with waste, accidents at sites, etc. We have not in the past factored in the cost of carbon and the real and impending problems and cost of climate change.
The ball game has changed and so too has the attitude of many people in all political parties.
All political parties need to take on board and reflect the changing attitudes of the people they represent ,particularly the parties who in the past have been ant-uranium....labor and the greens.
Many of the old arguments against uranium have been addressed or have become less of a problem. When you add to the discussion the threat of carbon and the need for time to develope any viable renewable alternative, the pro side looks strong.
In the end we all want the same things.A cheaper form of clean energy that will satisfy all and leave the earth in a reasonable state for our kiddies and theirs
