Nuclear Power is integral part of world energy production, It is here and to remain. Only thing will happen further is Consolidation(As PDN, MD said this morning at ABC)
Why we can't stop: Few facts:
1) More than 20 people died at Oil Refinery in Japan after Earth Quake followed the Explosions at Refinery. We all watched it on TV. No body wants to talk about it. However, not a single death till now is recorded at Nuclear Site(one person died due to Crane Crashing)
2) Oil will end on day. Ii will certainly end. Uranium Reserve are vast and will last 1000's of year. Even Sea water have several ppm Uranium. Coal ASH have around 20-30 ppm Uranium.
3) We change car's every 10 year. Coal Fired plants get refurbished every 15 to 20 years. Gas fired plant get refurbished time to time.
Nuclear Power needs same level of Investments.
3) Reactors Technology is far more complex and advanced than even Aircraft. It is far far more advanced and complex than rocket science.
Rockets fails time to time, Reactors don't. Only Reactor every listed to fail was Chernobyl. Technology is getting better and better as we advance forward on technology and compliances levels.
4) Quality Projects will continue to thrive despite daily ups and down in the market.
