Solar panels last around 20 years . With almost zero maintenance. Now we are developing a solar panel recycling industry that means we will be able to reduce emissions even more.
10 years ago a solar panel was at about 250watts. Today they are in the range of 450-500 watts. Almost doubled in output in 10 years.
20 years ago a 2kw array was a common size. Today the average is around 8kw . That's a 400% improvement .
That means that when solar panels reach end of life they can be recycled and the replacements are significantly better. By a factor of 4 over 20 years . Using exactly the same location and grid connection. So solar technology will continually improve the grid performance rather than locking into inflexible technology like baseload .
That's an improvement that baseload anything can match . Baseload is locked in to it's design life.
Solar, wind and storage is improving at a rapid rate . lt is sending coal fired power broke in 2024. And yet some muppets want to lock us into a technology for 80 years that they can't change .
