I cant believe that the proponents of nuclear haven't worked out the most viable model yet. Gees it aint that hard. You will know when we have gotten it right when every town/city will have a suitably sized nuclear power plant nearby. This solves all of the inefficiencies of the system. ie the losses in transmission lines are minimalised, the losses in transmission lines are astronomical and by not needing to move power long distances for day to day running, a huge percentage can be saved. The losses will also be minimalised by utilising the now closer at hand more numerous power plants. eg emergency back up etc. Every home will have solar electric which will also be a back up and to give flexibility for the town/city system. Every home will have solar hot water. All homes will be heated by hot water. This can be used to give flexibility to the power system itself. (I know this for a fact, I have been doing it for decades) All homes in suitable areas would have an ev charger. This in itself would save, by not having evs running all over the countryside out of their way looking for charging points as they do now.
Spent nuclear fuel will all be recycled and at the end of life cycle could be spread across the deserts at a concentration lower than the radioactivity levels of a tv or microwave. If this is not suitable to the clowns, then it could be buried 5 miles below the surface with current drilling technology, from the surface. After all the centre of the earth is heated by nuclear power already. Isnt it strange how the space cadets dont like nuclear, but they like geothermal.... which IS nuclear. They walk among us...
