Response to that article on Eco-Business:

Well, better do some more research. The cost of the uranium does not matter in the whole calculation of nuclear power. Uranium could be at 200$/pound (33.25$ now) and it wouldn't matter because you need so little of it. A small cube of U308 the size of a couple of dice yields as much electricity as 5000 barrels of oil,...so please, if you want to write a serious article, get your facts straight first.

The civil operating reactor fleet is expected to more than double by the year 2040, this fact is published and available throughout the world - how is that accounted for in your claims? There are 70 reactors being constructed as we speak that will be on line by 2020. That number doesn't include the Japanese restarts. Even Dr David Suzuki, renowned environmentalist has said that we are out of time and has turned to nuclear as a solution to climate change. Low grade deposits - have you looked at northern Saskatchewan lately?

Get your facts straight before writing an article on uranium and nuclear energy. Between now and 2030 the number of operating reactors is going to rise not fall and yes, that does take into account reactors that will be retired. Do your research. The Chinese have a massive nuclear reactor construction program going on, then there's Russia, India and many more. Even the US has started new construction.
As for uranium grades... again, do more research. If you look at the grades being hit by companies in Canada's Athabasca Basin it's clear there is a lot of high grade uranium to be found.
Oh and if you are going to include uranium mining as part of the carbon cost of nuclear, why don't you apply the same approach to construction of solar panels?

As you can see the impact of the cost of uranium on the nuclear industry is almost zero, notice how the graph does not even show the slightest blimp during the price hike of U308 in 2007,...
