1. GEH submitted a license application for a 6MSWU LEU facility at Wilmington the the NRC and were granted a license in 2012 - this license was never used and has now been terminated. They will need to re-submit this for Paducah and also get a category 2 license for HALEU - only Centrus currently have a categroy 2 license although BWXT do have a category 1 license (up to 100% 235U)
2. Cameco have done extensive testing on the 16 micron high powered laser (this was the greatest uncertainty) and this passed 8 months of testing last year
On the negative side for the competition is that neither of the credible competitors (i.e Centrus and Ureco) have mining experience and Centrus does not also have conversion experience.
