A staffing crisis doesn't merely mean that roles don't get filled. It completely changes the day to day dynamics of business. It means that deadlines don't get met, and jobs don't get done properly because all of the employers' carrots get used up in the hiring process, and all of the employers' sticks become twigs.
I'm literally living through this right now, having just fired one very popular employee for having an unbelievably sh1t attitude and openly undermining me, which triggered a walkout of 50% of his colleagues, which they only did because unemployment is at 3.5%, and they all know that they can saunter into a job at any number of other meeker employers.
The bullish spin on this though is that it means that the likelihood of an upstart competitor to Silex being able to secure the talent required to technologically leapfrog us basically goes to zero.
