Westinghouse were given a brief to design a reactor that was simpler, cheaper and faster to build. They failed on each criteria and their design revealed many safety issues. The time and expense to attempt to resolve the many issues proved to be their undoing and led to their bankruptcy. Is it any wonder they've lost the public's confidence?
