I have several letters published in the Australian over the years about the fact that we export uranium but are not legally permitted to value add by enriching. Indonesia on the other hand limits the amount of nickel that it exports without some degree of processing (value adding). Hasn't changed anything of course but that is my little bit. This is not intended to create a discussion on whether or not we actually COULD enrich here (although with 30% one might believe such an industry to be viable) but it peeves me that we are not permitted to do so. Insane in my view. Equally it amazes me (looked for a stronger word) that the U.S. would allow itself to become dependent on Russian uranium!
