You're right, the Woods Hole figure does not agree with my calculation, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong. From your linked site:
"The ocean’s surface layer, home to most marine life, takes most of this heat. As a result, the top 700 meters (2,300 feet) of the global ocean has warmed about 1.5°F since 1901."
So they are using a different method (1901 start date versus 1955 for NASA and top 700 m versus top 2000 m for NASA) and coming up with a very different answer. Both answers could be within the margin of error of the measurement. I'm still trying to work out how they got the baseline measurement back in 1901.
