I think you may find that Mike was talking about the transmutation process with UNF, which isn't the same as the UF6 enrichment process used be SILEX, it is just one of Photo shifting using lasers to change the atomic structure by dislodging part of the atom and changing their makeup into a less harmful .
I think he is a nuclear engineer and has worked in the field unlike yourself.
Do we have two processes withe SILEX using Lasers, I suspect so! is this another rabbit hole?
If this comes off? Paducah pales into insignificance , there are 100,s of thousand tons of UNF and transmutation may leave behind enriched Uranium behind in the form of already enriched LEU.
It is already enriched and would only require topping up to replace the portion used in the initial fuel load (only a very small portion of U235 is used in the reactor first time through.
In the early days at GEH they were going to enrich the UNF,I suspect they may have found another way, I hope I am right!
