Construction application filed for first US sodium reactor
TerraPower has filed an application with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission to build the first sodium reactor in the United States. The facility with a capacity of 345 megawatts (MW) will be built in Kemmerer, Wyoming, near a coal-fired power plant that is slated for closure. The construction of the non-nuclear infrastructure will begin as early as next summer.
