Nuclear and renewables are not "complimentary". They might be complementary, but because large reactors are not easily turned on and off, they are not suitable as peakers. Fortunately wind and solar are a good complementary combination because there's usually more wind at night. in the rare occasions when there's no wind and sola, instantaneous hydro, battery back up and as a last resort gas peakers can fill the gaps. modern gas turbines also have the ability to run on hydrogen.
