I would welcome nuclear weapon proliferation. We desperately need nuclear weapons. How else are we to deter hungry neighbours such as India and China (nuclear equipped) and Indonesia, with billions of people looking enviously at our resource rich lightly populated country? What side would the leftie dominated UN be on? Would the US take on China in a full scale war over Australia? I was ashamed and alarmed to see how the US turned its back on Viet Nam when the going got tough. I fought in two conflicts that might loosely be called wars (one certainly was) and it made me realise just how small our armed forces are. It was a strain for the RAAF to supply and support six Caribou aircraft in Viet Nam. I think that the US Army had about six hundred! As it is, we are ripe for the plucking.
