I can see why the US would want to keep a secret on something that until proven reliable and a cost benefit analysis is done before heading down the Used Nuclear Fuel enrichment path again, and one that also has an EIS to prove it is safe to do so and also has no proliferation issues, only then will they move on this!
At the moment the US has a once through policy for UNF, It is a big issue to even find a location to bury the Nuclear waste, but what is the amount to be buried was 80% less and also only radioactive for around 300 years
(that has to be a better proposition that over a million years surely)
But the US will want factual information before heading down this path once again and I reckon that information is being gathered at Wilmington NC and going by the bill before the senate is almost ready!
