MG mentioned that Solar was causing problems in the 50Hz area, what he didn't explain well in my opinion is why?
50HZ or cycles or 3000 revs per min is the Australian standard, i.e.50 HZ a second or 50 cycles ps multiplied by 60 mins gives us 3000 revolutions per min.
Where the problem exists is in the timing of that frequency, it is imperative that all sources for that supply start at exactly the same time, otherwise you could get a situation where the start point for that supply is 180% out of whack with other power supplies, remember these are sine waves we are talking about being produced and if one were 180% out of sync with another they could effectively cancel each other out, thereby producing 0 Volts.
Timing is the issue, and the power companies go to great lengths to make them all exactly the same starting point and regulate the revolutions as well to keep them in sync.
