It always made me wonder how Cameco said they could end up being the supplier to the whole of Northern America, I can see how they could say that now?
It is not that far from where Pyrochemical treatment would occur (The Natrium reactor at Kemmerer) using free process heat.
Canada has a geological repository for nuclear waste after it is treated and it is less dangerous and for a lot less in time after treatment as well.
The US are having difficulty doing this!
Cameco posses a conversion and de conversion plant for UF6 at Port Hope.
Cameco can manufacture Nuclear fuel in Canada,they already do for their CANDU reactors now, which they could also recycle their wastes as well?
It may end up being an easier route for the US rather than still try to build a geological site or get permission for interim storage sites for UNF and they would not have to change their non UNF recycling policy either.
