It's just that as an engineer I find it so frustrating that (IMHO) your brigade simply do not understand physics and it's getting particularly frustrating in this election period where anti-nuclear policies have little basis in fact and all political parties are all throwing meaningless numbers around and in particular denigrating the excellent performance, safety, waste disposal and longevity of nuclear. I understand your ideological commitment (when I was 18 years old I demonstrated in Trafalgar Square in London for the Campaign for Nuclear disarmament - CND - I then grew up) - the difference is that I was educated as an engineer and grew up to understand the facts - nuclear electricity is very different to weapons; (although I now also consider that weapons have enabled relative peace since 1945 - look at the statistics of those killed and maimed in war since 1945 compared to prior periods, particularly when accounting for population growth); do you really think a worldwide nuclear weapons ban would work - IMO all it would do is generate clandestine stockpiles - like Iran now). IMO our commitment needs to be to address climate change and in that respect nuclear power is a necessity from a grid security (and stability) aspect - renewables simply do not do the job and days of storage (batteries or pumped hydro) are simply not feasible.
