Excited by possible restarts, with Holtec gaining this approval late last week and follows paperwork lodged for Three Mile Island and Duane Arnold. Even the Germans are now considering restarting up to six of their reactors, that would be great news.

Also expect GE will be more active, especially with SMRs.. GE Vernova received approval in May to deploy its BWRX-300 reactor in Ontario, Canada. It will be the first SMR deployed in the West, according to the company. Tennessee Valley Authority filed an application with the NRC earlier in May to build a GE Vernova reactor at Oak Ridge, Tenn.

“We expect more customers to put in applications to construct new SMRs with our technology before the year is over,” Strazik said.

So Westinghouse may well have spurred the late trading uptick, adding to other recent developments.
