They will no doubt continue to get publicity whilst ASPI pays for it - if they pay more then there are plenty of organizations around to publicize it. The problem they have is not only to make it work but also to (and this is their biggest problem) for it to be more efficient (and cheaper) than competition. In this context aero-dynamic (i.e not Yb & U) separation has proved to consume enormous amounts of electricity (hence ASPI's proposal for a plant in Iceland) and for QLE (Yb & U) AVLIS has not only high electricity consumption but also corrosion (short life of components - less than 400hrs) and very low throughput.due to using molten metallic feedstock which needs to be vaporized at near vacuum pressures (i.e it was abandoned by the USA in 1999 and then again in France in 2003). AVLIS has a very high enrichment factor which perversely is a advantage since it enriches up to weapons grade in one step (proliferation?)and then has to be diluted back to HALEU or LEU. Also metallic Uranium feedstock is not only more expensive but is not produced commercially. Really can't see AVLIS getting much traction in the nuclear fuels market (particularly from South Africa/Iceland) - as fuzzy bear quoted Centrus as being highly dismissive of ASPI but treating GLE very seriously (after all they (as USEC) dropped AVLIS is 1999 (after the DOE spent ~US$1.1Bn an additional USEC ~US$100m in 1990 US$) but then proceeding with Silex (spending US$18m in 2000 monies) but dropping it in 2003 under pressure from Oak Ridge lab (who had a large centrifuge interest - the American Centrifuge - now used by Centrus).. After 2003 silex was picked up be GEH (after competitive tender in 2006) who then invested over US$200m up until 2021. Silex claim that over US$500m has been spent by all parties on GLE to date. The claimed power consumption of ~25KWhr/SWU will be a difficult target to beat and no doubt this number will further improve with development (in the last announcement (6th May) they stated that the latest (third) laser delivered to GLE was an "improved laser system represents a design iteration" on the others and should be lodging the NRC application at the end of this month (this should qualify for US tax and loan incentives triggered for US construction starting by 2028
