A potential technical solution for fusion which ticks many of the boxes for clean energy (and also Australian) is:
Boron 11 fusion
The advantage of this type of fusion is that the particles it generates are charged (neutrons are neutral) and therefore can be directed by magnets not to collide with the containment vessel (hence avoiding neutron damage) and also can generate electricity directly rather than being used to generate steam. Since the reaction also does not does not produce neutrons it does not have proliferation problems and also does not need tritium as a component of the reaction and does not produce radioactive waste.
Since Boron has two stable isotopes, 11B (80.1%) and 10B (19.9%) maybe SLX could be used to separate them, but there may also be better methods since Boron is a relatively light element and the larger ratio of its atomic mass would tend to favour centrifuge or physical differences in boiling or freezing points (like when separating normal water and deuterium).
