Simply untrue - SMR's are NOT on hold. One Nuscale development project has been cancelled - that's all. Nuscale have other projects and there are many more designs in development (using a variety of nuclear technologies).

SMR's have been around since the commissioning of the US Nautilus in 1955 and since then approximately 400 have been produced and installed in submarines and aircraft carrier - none of these have had a significant accident. Current models have a life of over 30 years and don't need refueling during their operating life

The effort now is to bring SMR's into the commercial filed - Russia and China have done it. The US, UK,, France & South Korea have many designs in development which will enter service in about 2027 (as first of a kind) - production will follow. Please do a bit of research before quoting rubbish based upon one cancelled installation.
