Sadly most Aussie govts-both federal and state- appear to be largely cut from the same idiotic backward cloth as the ones ruling "the mother country". 10 yrs behind in their mindset, weighed down by inertia and apathy and interested only in the current term in office. Remain reliant on mining exports to build another country who is a trading partner and strategic enemy rather than production and power generation for their own country. Insane.
Wind and solar -quick , easy, acceptable for the urban anti nuclear mass.
For nuclear , one needs a 20-30 year plan and that is challenging when you have multiple changes of govt at multiple levels.
One can hope!
