As posted we could have one by late 20"s using Australian steel built in the US just like we did the Rheinmetall boxer.
I don't know how this common sense decision was made,but like all govts they have managed to stuff it up by including the UK in the development and not building the first one in the US.
This is the first of experts opinions not mine but i agree.
By memory the astute uk sub relied heavily of US technology.so why is boris involved in the development.?
Maybe some expert even a current serving Admiral may tell the govt what to do regarding the process of acquiring these nuclear subs now that he would not be afraid he was going to be sacked for mentioning nuclear.;
I hope common sense will prevail now that both sides have got over the trauma of acquiring nuclear subs just like india,canada,france the US,the UK,china and russia.
