There's always conflicting, subjective opinions on all manner of things isn't there Scott? This is particularly so on the nuclear issue. No one knows for sure where it is headed, however, one thing is certain, technology R&D will improve the likely end result and hopefully SMR's for example will be near perfect, ultimately.

Such development could very well reduce the otherwise serious capital cost of the larger reactors whilst making SMR's quite suitable for Australian use along with the various other sources.

When considering the nuclear issue imo, a long term view is warranted due to their long term use/amortisation as opposed to expensive relatively short term alternatives such as renewables and their enormous associated environmental destruction in both mining, construction, roll out and demolition at the end of their relatively, comparative shorter life span.

Imo, renewables certainly have their place, but a modern economy requires enormous, 21/7/365 reliable electricity. If Albo's plan is to try to increase Australia's manufacturing, we will need even more such power.I think nuclear will be in the mix in Australia, eventually, as it is in over 30 other countries (and growing). Also, people with a short term outlook are not considering the longer term. Imo opinion, what matters if it takes 10-20- or 30 years to establish nuclear power generators in Oz?

We must ensure that we leave a sound, reliable future for our grandchildren and cease the excuse of short term tunnel vision and looking out the back of the bus rather than expanding our conscious appreciation of rapidly developing technological advances in Nuclear fission.

Fussion would be even nicer, however, it is very energy intensive and likely to be many decades off, if ever?
