    Gyro,
Thats what amazes me... France years ago decided to ignore all these people and just go ahead and develop a nuclear industry. They did so and it seems to be quite succesful.

I was never a strong backer of nuclear power, but it seemed to me that to mothball it wasnt necessarily the best way to tackle the technological problems that came with its introduction and that still exist.

It seems to me that we have just set ourselves back 20 years in the tackling of these problems.

As I recall, in France the 70% seems to be the maximum that you can economically derive from nuclear power, something to do with the ratio of peak to non-peak electricity usage and the economics and stability of the various storage options available for the electricity produced. I read this somewhere a few years ago and dont really recall the details.

As I recall, any excess electricity from the nuclear power is apparently used it to pump water uphill at night for hydroelectric power.

In most western countries, the agenda is sometimes overly driven by people like those in green peace. Their voices should be and must be heard, but my impression is that they often have too much weight in the final, and sometimes non-sensical decisions that are forced apon us.

Would you really like someone like Bob Brown deciding your childrens future?
